The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowships Fund (SYLFF)

Scholarships are offered annually and aim at stimulating international dialogue and understanding, and are intended to contribute to covering costs related to a research stay abroad for selected graduates, primarily candidates at the PhD level, within the areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Education and Theology. 

Applications will be considered by the UiO SYLFF Steering Committee and grants made on the basis of documented academic quality/merit, leadership qualities and achievements, and an appropriate goal, plan and budget.

SYLFF Scholarship selection criteria 2017

  • 1. Well formulated and presented application
  • 2. Excellent project - briefly presented/summarized
  • 3. International focus of content and activities
  • 4. Academic and social leadership qualities described (CV, including documented work experience/results)
  • 5. The funds to be used for relevant stay abroad, and clearly support the research project goals
  • 6. Relevant and sober budget clearly presented (NB: accompanying family cannot be supported)
  • 7. Recommendation letters attached (from supervisor, international host supervisor)
  • 8. Confirmation of admission/visit from receiving institution (where relevant)
  • 9. Statement of willingness to identify as a UiO SYLFF-Fellow and to participate in building UiO's SYLFF-Fellows Network during and after the funding period.
  • 10. Priority will be given to candidates at the PhD level.
