The SYLFF scholarship is available to postgraduate students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong commitment to social leadership. While priority is given to PhD candidates, exceptional Master’s students may also apply. Applicants must clearly articulate how their proposed research activities abroad will contribute to their academic projects and facilitate meaningful engagement with international institutions and organizations.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
For PhD students, the funding supports research stays abroad that directly enhance their doctoral projects. Master’s students can receive funding for activities that contribute to the completion of their thesis, such as field research or participation in international academic conferences. However, courses at foreign institutions are not eligible for funding.
How to Apply
To be considered for a SYLFF scholarship, applicants must submit a motivation letter, an updated CV highlighting academic and leadership achievements, a brief description of their research project, and a detailed budget outlining expenses up to NOK 50,000. Additionally, letters of recommendation, including one from the applicant’s supervisor, and confirmation of admission or a visit from the host institution (if applicable) must be included.
All applications must be submitted in English by the deadline of March 15, 2025.
