The Norwegian Oxford – Scholarship at Wadham College provides financial support for one student affiliated with the University of Oslo (UiO) to study at Wadham College, University of Oxford. The purpose of the scholarship is to strengthen academic and cultural ties between Norway and the United Kingdom by supporting a study stay that promotes academic development, international experience, and cross-cultural understanding.

About the Scholarship

Each year, one scholarship is awarded to support a study stay at Wadham College for one academic year (three terms). The scholarship is valued at NOK 175 000 and is intended to cover study-related expenses such as tuition fees and living costs during the stay.

In special cases, the study stay may be limited to two terms, and in exceptional circumstances, the scholarship may be awarded to the same candidate for a second year.

Awarding of the scholarship is conditional upon admission to Wadham College.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a student or recently graduated student from the University of Oslo

• Have concrete plans to apply for admission to Wadham College or already be in the process of application

• Apply for a study programme offered at Wadham College

• Submit the application in English

Students from all study levels may apply. It is considered an advantage if the scholarship is linked to a degree programme at Oxford.

• Academic achievements

• Motivation and academic potential

• Relevance of the study plans to the purpose of the foundation

• Personal suitability

What the Scholarship Covers

The scholarship is intended to support academic expenses related to one academic year at Wadham College. The funds may be used for:

• Tuition fees

• Academic materials

• Accommodation and living expenses

• Travel costs between Norway and the United Kingdom

The scholarship will only be paid once confirmation of admission from Wadham College has been received.

• Recommendation letter from a supervisor or academic staff member at UiO

Assessment Process

• A specialist committee appointed by the University of Oslo evaluates all applications and nominates up to three candidates in priority order

• The board of the foundation makes the final decision based on the committee’s recommendation

• If the selected candidate does not receive admission to Wadham College, the scholarship will be offered to the next qualified applicant
